Intermec CN3 Hard Reset Methods.

Resetting the CN3

You rarely need to reset the personal computer. If the personal computer does not continue after pushing the Energy key, or if the personal computeror an app lock up, you may need to reset the CN3. The CN3 uses the settings currently saved in flash storage during the boot process. There are three ways to reset the CN3:

• Warm booting the CN3
• Freezing booting the CN3
• Clean up booting the CN3

Warm Booting the CN3

You may require to execute a warm boot to right problems where an apps stops replying to the method.

To warm boot the computer

• Click and hold the Energy press button for 10 secs or right-click on the CN3 via the SmartSystems Console and choose Intermec Power Tools > Warm Boot Device.

The personal computer methodically power down, reboots, and goes through the initialization method.

Cold Booting the CN3

In some cases where the personal computer completely stops replying, it may be required to execute a cold boot. Because cold booting may result in files loss, only use this technique if all other restoration techniques have failed.

Note: Cold booting the CN3 does not guarantee that cached disk files will be stored, so transactional files may be lost during the reset. All other files is preserved.

To cold boot your CN3

1 Click the Power key to suspend the CN3.
2 Take out the battery pack from the CN3.
3 Click the Reset key on the back of the CN3.
Clean up Booting the CN3

When you clean boot the CN3, it loads only all those data files and applications that are completely needed by the operating system. Use the clean up boot to diagnose the CN3 by getting it up and running so that you can execute diagnostic checks to determine which components of the normal boot method are causing troubles.

The clean boot method will erase the memory space in the mobile phone computer, including all apps and data files found in the item shop.
A clean boot will load files from the Flash Data file Store if an SSPB data files are not on a miniSD card. If SSPB data files are on a miniSD card,
they will overwrite the data files in the Flash File Store.

To clean boot the personal computer

1 Click the Power key to hold the CN3.
2 Take out the battery pack from the back of the CN3.
3 With a stylus pen, click the Reset key on the battery cavity.
4 Place the battery pack into the CN3 and immediately click and hold the Power key and both control buttons on the left side.
5 Proceed to hold the Energy key and both control buttons on the left side until a Alert message shows up on the screen.
6 Release the Power key and both control buttons on the left side, read the message, and click either button on the right side to proceed.
7 Wait for the CN3 to load files from the miniSD card.

Note: You can also clean up boot the CN3 utilizing the SmartSystems console. To clean up boot the CN3 using the SmartSystems Console,
right-click on the CN3 and choose Intermec Power Tools > Clean Boot Device.

To clean up the imager window, camera window, and touch display screen
1 Click the Power key to suspend the CN3.
2 Dip a clean up cloth towel in the ammonia solution and wring out the excess.
3 Clean off the imager window, camera lens, and flash area. Do not allow any aggressive material to touch these surfaces.
4 Remove dry up.
